They’ve done toys, creepy-crawlies, monsters, sea-creatures and superheroes… Now Pixar have added the world of Cars to their blend.

The movie is centred on the life of the world-famous racing car Lightning McQueen, who, en route to a big race, gets waylaid in a little town called Radiator Springs. There he meets some interesting pick-ups and old bangers as well as a tasty little Porsche that leaves him for dust.

Written and directed by John Lasseter, the animated-comedy boasts the vocal talents of Owen Wilson, Paul Newman, Bonnie Hunt and Michael Keaton.

The flick handbrake turns into multiplexes on 28 July but you can click here to watch the trailer.

Tom McCarthy to pen Home MoviesWin Win director taking a trip through time

By Josh Winning | Jun 8th 2011

Win Win and The Visitor director Tom McCarthy has signed on to write a supernatural family comedy called Home Movies.Heat Vision report that the plot follows a man who can revisit and change moments from his life by re-watching his old home movies. Thus far, McCarthy has excelled in helming stories about conflicted middle-aged men who aren’t necessarily happy with how their lives have turned out.Which makes him the perfect writer for this project, even though it’s pandering to a different market than McCarthy’s used to.With McCarthy wielding the pen, that intriguing premise should be afforded the same kind of depth and humanity that his other films have boasted. In short: don’t expect The Butterfly Effect 4.

of course

Seth MacFarlane is keeping it in the animated family. He’s signed “Family Guy” daughter Mila Kunis to join Max Payne co-star Mark Wahlberg in Ted. Additionally, “Party Down” star and super-shopper Adam Scott is in talks to join the raunchy comedy. Kunis will play Wahlberg’s long-suffering girlfriend and Scott will play her boss who comes between the two.

The film, of course, revolves around a man and his childhood teddy bear that happens to be alive. Over the years, the bear has grown to be “a cursing, smoking, delinquent (voiced by MacFarlane) that is preventing the man from maturing.” No word yet on which of his four voices MacFarlane will use.
